Handyman Wooden Claws

Hand
made wooden claws made from Russian birch plywood in the same way
that I show on the club
“Construction Tips” page.
The claws are
created in pairs and come as pictured. They are 1 1/8”
wide at the base. They do not have the carved recess on the
inside of the claw, so you will need to add this detail if you want
it. You will also need to drill your own mounting holes and
add your own open/close mechanism
The claws are
shaped and sanded, but will need to be sealed with a sandable primer
and worked to eliminate the wood grain (using Bondo Glazing Putty
or fiberglass resin as detailed on the club site). Be ready to do
some sanding to get the claws looking how you want! Claws
come with finishing instructions.
If you don’t
like the challenge of finishing a wooden part and engineering your
own open/close mechanism, buy a set of Bill
K.’s claws – they are perfect and require little
effort to put on your robot. If you don’t mind some
extra work, these might be great for you.
As with any
of my parts, send them back within a week if you are not happy with
them for a full refund. You pay only the return shipping.

This
is a printed circuit board for the power pack. The pattern
was created from a variety of sources including the photos of the
original component as shown on Mike D's web site (Power
Pack). Thanks to Darrell T. for his help in creating the
graphics for this part!
The raw material
is double sided copper clad PCB material. It is light green
in color and semitransparent. Pattern is transferred using
PNP Blue and parts are etched in a Ferric Chloride solution. The
front side is raw copper and the back side is tin plated with "Liquid
Tin" and appears silver. Components (not included) may
be soldered to the board, and the board is compatible with Bill
K’s electronics kit (this is what I am using to populate my
own board). Directions for trimming, sanding, and component
placement are included with the part.
This is a hand
made part.
CUSTOM
BOARDS AVAILABLE!
If
you want a custom or personalized board, including such things as
choosing your own serial numbers, adding your member number somewhere
on the board, a different tracing design, or a different board shape,
please contact me. This could be a fun way to personlize your robot!

Add
the extra level of detail to your robot’s power pack! With
detailed help and advice from Mike D. (who owns an unaltered original
part used to make the power pack), his component values posted on
the list, and the photos of the original power pack part from his
site (
PowerPack ), I created this set of water slide decals to use
with the power pack frame and components. Thanks to Mike D.
for his information, time and feedback in helping to create these
decals! If you want to make yourself a set, go to “Scratchbuilding
the Power Pack Decals” on the “Construction
Tips” page. It’s easy to do! If you
would like me to make a set for you, read on.
These photos are of the waterslide decals using my Handyman PCB,
scratchbuilt 20 pin connector, and Bill
K’s electronics pack (using my decals). All of the
numbers and graphics you see in the photo are the waterslide decals.
Decals are crystal clear and each sheet contains graphics for 2
complete power packs. (Some of the decals are very small,
and I appreciated having another one handy when if dropped one on
the floor or accidentally tore a decal.)
Each sheet contains a double set of:
Frame side and end serial and model numbers
End rectangular details
Trim potentiometer markings from unaltered original
Silver capacitor markings from the unaltered original
Correct top markings for blue transistors from the unaltered original
20 pin connector serial number
PCB Board serial number (for bottom of board)
“-R21” markings for tan components
Red “220” markings for tan rectangular components
Green markings for 20 pin connector duplicating the raised detail
for those scratchbuilding their end connector.
Decals come with a complete placement diagram and application
instructions.
PERSONALIZED
DECALS AVAILABLE! If you like you can choose your own serial
numbers for your decal set (perhaps your member number plus 1000),
truly making your power pack a one-of-kind item.
